Journal: Reflections
and Observations
February 11, 2003
This
is the second journal entry about the process of my senior project. It is about
all the countless memories, great lessons, and my over all wonderful experience
doing field
work. I, myself learned how to surf kayak, Eskimo rolling, and rappelling
form cliffs. Personally I achieved my goals by learning new skills and
challenging myself mental and physical. But I
also learned how to teach teenagers how to enjoy nature and learn skills
that will help them throughout their life's. My field work was that I would
participant in a week long youth camp at Ocean State Adventures. Ocean
State Adventures is a outdoor recreation story that rents, sells, and offers
youth
camps. This camps are for youths that wanted to learn how to kayak and rock climb.
The week long camp was entitled "surf and turf". The
first three days were do with kayaking and the last two days with rocking.
When I was formally will the skill I would help the teens and when I did not
feel conformable or did not know the skills I would become a participant. The
week went by fast having so much fun. I walked away from the camp with a great
self knowledge of myself. I learned much about myself and what I had to
offer people. I enjoyed working with the teens and I am looking forward to
maybe someday working with teens again.
Here are two video's
of my fieldwork: The first video is of a teen Eskimo rolling with me in the cold
Bristol harbor water. The second video is of me Eskimo rolling.
